Forest Area Baptist Church is a church with the entire family in mind. We offer Sunday School for all ages, old fashioned, Christ centered preaching, nursery, transportation to all services, personal soul winning, nursing home ministries, prison ministries, hospital or home visitation, family and youth activities.
Our church is an independent, old-fashioned, Bible believing church that strives to live by the Bible, God’s Holy Word. In what we would call, “the good old days,” broken homes and drug addictions were a rarity. Children were taught to love and respected their parents and people were friendly and neighborly. These characteristics of life are still possible today if we would only turn to God’s Word and decide to live by it.
At Forest Area Baptist Church, we believe God’s Word has the answers to all of life’s problems. By reading and understanding the Bible, we can not only find out how to get to Heaven, but also how to live a successful and victorious life until we get there. God doesn’t want us to grope or fumble around in darkness, but instead He gave us His Word as a guide for our lives. It has specific instructions on how to have a wonderful marriage relationship, how to properly raise our children, and how to cope with the stress of everyday life.
Our church family wants you to know that we care about you. We are committed to helping people find the peace and strength that only God can provide. This is the ministry that the Lord Jesus Christ has given to His churches. Our desire is that you would come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and that you would have a church home where you can “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
We hope you will come to visit with us very soon.
OUR PURPOSE STATEMENT
The purpose of this church shall be to preach and teach the Bible; to minister to, teach, and disciple our local body of believers according to the clear teachings of Scriptures and the faith once delivered by the saints; to present the Gospel to a lost and dying world; to establish and maintain Bible schools, Sunday Schools and Christian educational systems, ranging from pre-school through high school and/or college, for the spiritual establishment and improvement of our members in the fear of God; to acquire and hold real estate and personal property and to encumber and dispose of the same; and to send out those who can reproduce the same as ministries of this church.
OUR CHURCH COVENANT
Having been led as we believe by the Holy Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour and upon the profession of our faith in obedience to the Holy Scriptures, having been baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the very presence of God do solemnly and joyfully enter into this covenant one with another as one body in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to give this church a sacred pre-eminence over all human institutions and organizations; to strive for its advancement in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute Scripturally, cheerfully, and regularly to the support its ministries, expenses, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout all nations; and to honor, esteem, and love our Pastor and to pray for him fervently and daily, to lovingly respect and submit to the exercise of his office, to attend constantly upon his ministrations, and to manifest a tender regard for his reputation. We also personally engage to strive to maintain daily private and family devotions, to bring up our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, and to actively seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances.
With the Holy Spirit’s guiding, we shall live righteously in this present world; be honest and just in all our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our behavior; oppose any and all conduct which would compromise our Christian testimony and uphold high standards of Christian morality; abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks and beverages; and be zealous in our service for the Lord until His return.
We further engage to walk together in Christian love and charity; to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling, courtesy and speech; and to be slow to anger and offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being ever mindful of the command of our Saviour, to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that upon our removal from this place, we will as soon as possible, unite with another church of like and similar faith, order, and practice where we can continue to carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Holy Word. We make this our prayer, in the name and in the sight of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen.
